Hi, and thanks for reading more about me!

My name is Ron Darbouze. I live in Austin, Texas.

My Story

I’m originally from South Florida—born in Miami, raised in Cape Coral, then off to school in Philadelphia and early career years in New York.

After the financial crisis, I moved to Dallas and eventually settled in Austin with my wife, Charrisse, and our three kids—two daughters (9 and 6) and our 9-month-old.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about faith, family, and fitness. You’ll find me in the gym, at church with the family, or playing Shark Tank and Uno with the kids.

We love family pool time (ideally in Cancun or Cabo), exploring Austin’s restaurant scene, and good conversation over margaritas or IPAs.

My Professional Journey

My career in finance spans nearly 20 years, starting on Wall Street at Merrill Lynch during the height of the financial crisis. I worked on bank portfolio strategy, analyzing billions in assets and identifying at-risk institutions across 8,000 FDIC-insured banks.

From there, I moved to TPG Capital in Dallas, where I supervised financial performance for 78 private equity portfolio investments across five multi-billion-dollar funds.

The real estate industry became my focus as I joined Invitation Homes, where I led cross-functional finance teams managing $240M+ budgets and helped reduce gross overhead by 59% ($86M).

I was instrumental in their $1.54B IPO—the second largest REIT IPO in US history—and later supported the $20B merger with Starwood Waypoint Homes. These experiences taught me how to build scalable financial systems and drive operational efficiency at massive scale.

I continued this work at Amherst Residential as VP of FP&A, then as Head of Strategic Finance at Overmoon, before spending nearly three years as Finance Director at CBRE.

Each role deepened my expertise in financial modeling, capital strategy, investor relations, and building the systems that enable data-driven growth.

Why Fractional CFO Work

After years leading finance teams at large organizations, I realized growing companies need the same level of strategic financial leadership but can’t justify a full-time CFO.

Through Rock Finance, I partner with companies from $10M to $100M+, providing enterprise-level finance expertise at the stage where it makes the biggest impact.

I love the variety of challenges, working with passionate founders, and seeing immediate results from the systems we build together.

When I’m not with clients, you’ll find me talking business strategy over coffee, watching sports, or discussing real estate—passions that tie back to my finance background.
