I'm a strategic finance executive and fractional CFO, and I run Rock Finance, where I help companies get senior-level financial leadership without adding a full-time CFO. I also speak to professional audiences about leadership, clarity, and finance. Here's what has my attention right now.

Building Rock Finance

After nearly two decades inside companies like Merrill Lynch, TPG Capital, and Invitation Homes, I decided to build a long-term consulting practice instead of staying in a traditional role. Most of my energy right now goes into Rock Finance, advising companies that need experienced financial leadership without the cost of a full-time hire, and growing it into a more independent, client-focused model.

Turning finance data into decisions

A theme I keep coming back to is that Finance earns the right to lead when it delivers clean, clear data that reflects how the business actually operates. I've been writing about how teams move from reporting to results and build a genuinely data-driven culture, so the numbers actually shape decisions instead of just describing the past.

Leading with clarity and responsibility

When I speak, I keep returning to what real leadership looks like. For me it's less about being in charge and more about taking responsibility, which is the heart of servant leadership. I've also been reflecting on mentorship: some mentors build you up and others unintentionally tear you down, and the best ones give you strength.

On the lighter side

When I step away from the work, it's usually to travel with my wife and kids. A family trip to Cabo San Lucas crystallized for me the real reason I left the corporate world to start my own business, and these days I'm a lot more deliberate about knowing when to step back and recharge.
